Ed Sheeran ‘Thinking Out Loud’ Legal Battle Finally Ends As Accusers Concede Appeal Ed Sheeran’s legal battle over “Thinking Out Loud” has ended. The win comes five months after he was found not guilty of infringing on Marvin Gaye’s 1973 song “Let’s Get It On.” Billboard reports that the accusers in the Ed Sheeran-Marvin Gaye copyright case have finally conceded. Ed Townsend’s heirs accused Sheeran of infringing “Let’s Get It On” in 2016. Sheeran appealed the jury decision earlier this year. The appeal has been withdrawn with prejudice, according to court documents. The Townsend heirs cannot refile the case in the future. The reason for dropping the case was not mentioned or reported.
