The Weeknd is coming to the silver screen! Not only will The Weeknd star in his first feature film but he’s also named as a writer and a producer.  Trey Edwards Shults (Waves, It Comes At Night) will direct along with co-writing and executive producing.

Jenna Ortega (Wednesday, Scream) will co-star alongside Abel and as well as Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inisherin).  The upcoming project is currently filming in Los Angeles.

Reza Fahim, who is The Weeknd’s producing partner, and who co-created the upcoming HBO series The Idol, along with Kevin Turen and Harrison Kreiss are also credited as the film’s producers.

In addition, The Weeknd has officially made history by becoming the first artist to surpass 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify.  He also released his first live album, ‘Live at SoFi Stadium,’ which includes 31 tracks from his two-night performance in L.A. back in November of last year.
