Miley Cyrus is back with a new single titled ‘Flowers.’   ‘Flowers’ is the lead single off of Miley’s upcoming album Endless Summer Vacation which, according to a press release, is “a love letter to L.A.” however, ‘Flowers’ seems to tell another story.  In her new song, Miley opens up about finding empowerment and joy after a painful breakup (I mean, she did release the song on her ex-husband’s birthday).

‘Flowers’ screams empowerment and finding joy after a painful breakup.  On the song’s pre-chorus, Miley admits to ‘not wanting to end their relationship,’ “I didn’t wanna leave you.  I didn’t wanna lie / Started to cry, but then I remembered I.”

“I can buy myself flowers / Write my name in the sand / Talk to myself for hours / Say things you don’t understand / I can take myself dancing / And I can hold my own hand / Yeah, I can love me better than you can,” Miley sings on the chorus.

It’s been a few years since Miley and Liam parted ways.  They tied the knot in 2018 and in 2019, filed for divorce which was finalized in 2020.  Her 2020 album Plastic Hearts dug deep into the emotional aftermath following their breakup.  Songs like ‘Angels Like You,’ Hate Me,’ and ‘Never Be Me’ all expressed how Miley was feeling at the time.  Less than three years later, it feels as though Liam is still on Miley’s mind.
