Nicki Minaj did it!! ‘Super Freaky Girl’ is Nicki’s first solo No.1 Billboard Hot 100 single.  In addition, Nicki becomes the first solo female rapper to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100 since Lauryn Hill’s ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)’ in 1998.

Since its release, ‘Super Freaky Girl’ has been streamed more than 21.2 million times, it’s sold more than 89,000 digital downloads, and it’s been featured in thousands, if not millions of TikTok videos.  Nicki’s latest single has been dubbed as a sequel to ‘Anaconda’ (2014) and it sample’s Rick James’ 1981 classic, ‘Super Freak.’  Once news broke, Nicki tweeted her fans, “You did it.”

 

 

‘Super Freaky Girl’ is Nicki’s third No. single following ‘Say So’ with Doja Cat and ‘Trollz’ with 6ix9inie.

 

 

 

 

 

Nicki is set to host Sunday’s 2022 MTV Video Music Awards alongside LL Cool J and Jack Harlow.  She will also accept this year’s Video Vanguard Award and is set to perform a medley of her hits.

And for the first time this century, three different Black female artists have reached No.1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart consecutively: Lizzo (About Damn Time), Beyoncé (BREAK MY SOUL) and Nicki Minaj (Super Freaky Girl).
