During her ITV special, An Audience with Adele, which was held inside London’s Palladium, Emma Thompson asked Adele if she ‘could remember anyone from her past who supported, inspired, or protected her as a child,’ Adele then said it was her teacher at London’s Chestnut Grove Academy, Ms. McDonald.  Ms. McDonald left the school when Adele was in 8th grade but Adele shared, “She got me really into literature and arranging street dance performances in the cafeteria.  She was so bloody cool. So engaging. She really made us care and we knew that she cared about us.  She wore cool gold bracelets, too — was so relatable and likeable that I really looked forward to my English lessons.”

Adele’s former teacher was sitting in the audience with her children, when she casually walked toward the stage and caused Adele to get teary-eyed.  As her teacher leans in to give Adele a hug, she whispers, “I’m so proud of you.” Adele then says, “I didn’t know you were coming! You look exactly the same after all these years.”  As Adele continuously dabs her eyes, Ms. McDonald says, “Thank you for remembering me.”  “Oh my God. No, you really, you really did change my life,” Adele tells her,

“Home Sweet Home. I’ve always dreamt of doing An Audience With… There was so much love in the room for eachother, it felt like such a gig! Everyone was raucous and bang up for it! And my teacher Ms McDonald was there, it was just heaven,” Adele shared on Instagram.
