Britney Spears is finally free!  Earlier today (Nov. 12), Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny terminated Britney’s conservatorship effective immediately.  Britney, now 39, has been under this conservatorship for nearly 14 years.  The conservatorship allowed her father, Jamie Spears, along with his team full control, making decisions about her work, who she could have contact with, her personal affairs, and how to spend her money.  This has been ongoing since 2008 – until now.

Britney’s attorney Mathew Rosengart told the court in this afternoon’s hearing, “The time has come after more than a decade for the conservatorship to be terminated in its entirety.”

During her virtual June 23 hearing, Britney described the conservatorship as ‘a demoralizing and traumatizing chapter of her life,’ “I just want my life back.  It’s been 13 years. And it’s enough,” she said.  It was during this hearing that Britney revealed she would like to get married and have another child.  Unfortunately, because of the conservatorship, she was not able to make a doctor’s appointment to have her IUD removed, “I deserve to have a life.  I deserve to have the same rights as anybody does by having a child, a family, any of those things, and more,” Britney told the court.

And according to Britney, her dad isn’t the only one to blame for the conservatorship.  A few weeks ago, Britney called out her mother Lynne in an Instagram post:

The moment I SMILE @ and I realize I haven’t in a very long time.  My mom gets so CONCERNED and says, ‘You’re acting weird. What’s wrong with you?’ I say ‘Hi, my name is Britney Spears, nice to finally meet you!’ My dad may have started the conservatorship 13 years ago, but what people don’t know is that my mom is the one who gave him the idea!I will never get those years back. [My mom] secretly ruined my life, and yes, I will call her and Lou Taylor out on it.  So take your whole ‘I have NO IDEA what’s going on’ attitude, and go f**k yourself.  You know exactly what you did. My dad is not smart enough to ever think of a conservatorship.”
