Following an hour-long livestream presentation, the nominations for the 2021 Grammy Awards have been revealed.

Beyoncé leads all nominees with 9 nominations. She picked up Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best R&B Song and Best R&B performance nods for ‘Black Parade’. The song was released on Juneteenth, which commemorates the emancipation of African-Americans from slavery in the U.S. Beyoncé’s Black Is King film is up for Best Music Film and ‘Brown Skin Girl’ is nominated for Best Music Video. Bey also snagged three noms for her guest appearance on Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Savage Remix’, including Record of the Year, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.

Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift and Roddy Ricch, each earned 6 nominations a piece, and follow Beyoncé as the second-most nominated acts.

The most notable snub was Canada’s own The Weeknd, who was completely shut out of the nominations, despite having a No.1 album and one of the years biggest songs in ‘Blinding Lights’.

 

 

The 63rd annual Grammy Awards will be hosted by award-winning ‘The Daily Show’ host and comedian Trevor Noah.  In a press release, Noah shares, “Despite the fact that I am extremely disappointed that the GRAMMYs® have refused to have me sing or be nominated for best pop album, I am thrilled to be hosting this auspicious event.  I think as a one-time GRAMMY® nominee, I am the best person to provide a shoulder to all the amazing artists who do not win on the night because I too know the pain of not winning the award! (This is a metaphorical shoulder, I’m not trying to catch Corona).”

The 63rd GRAMMY Awards will be held on Sunday January 31st on Citytv.
