In a new interview with Taylor Swift, she opens up with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1, talking about Selena Gomez and her new song, ‘Lose You to Love Me.’

Taylor says, “She came over, she played me the video. I’m so proud of her. She’s been through so much. I’ve watched so much happen in her life and had a front row seat to so much, and I’m so proud of her.”  Taylor then called Selena’s new track, “The best thing she’s ever done.”

Taylor continues, “She is such a revelation because now she’s making her best stuff. I am 100 per cent convinced this is the best thing she’s done so far.  Just from my perspective as her friend, I’ve just never been more proud. The things that she’s overcome, the situations that she’s risen above.”

Taylor and Selena have been friends for more than 10 years, “I’m really excited because when somebody has had great life experience, has had really tough things they’ve had to go through, and they can process that and make art that’s going to help other people, that’s what kind of song this is,” she shares.

In addition, Taylor also opened up about her role in the ‘Cats’ movie, “I’m so happy I got to do this. This was something that I was approached about and obviously I was like, ‘Okay it’s Cats. Yeah, I’ll do this.’ I have three cats. And also just, I really wanted to work with Tom Hooper,” she admits.  And get this – Taylor went through screen tests for the role of Éponine in 2012’s Les Misérables, “I didn’t get it, but it was such an amazing experience just doing the screen test, and I was obviously like, ‘I’m not going to get this.’  Because the other girl was amazing and was on the West End. Samantha Barks, she’s incredible and she fully killed the role and was amazing. I was watching it being like, ‘This is incredible.’”

Also, Taylor and Andrew Lloyd Weber worked on a song together for the upcoming Cats movie (Taylor plays the role of Bombalurina).  The song is called ‘Beautiful Ghosts’ and Universal Pictures released BTS footage during the creation process.  Andrew explains, “When I first read the screenplay — and the film is seen through Victoria’s eyes — the first thing I said was, ‘We have to have a song for Victoria. It’s an incredibly important central part of the whole film.’  There was an ambition and aspiration to have an original song in the movie.”  Watch below.
