Attention Lizzie McGuire fans – Hilary Duff has officially announced that she will once again play her beloved character on a new series that will be featured on Disney+.

During the Disney+ presentation at the D23 Expo, Hilary told Entertainment Tonight, “It feels very surreal, to be honest. I’ve been living with this information for a few months now, so it’s been very hard to even contain my excitement.  She’s such a big part of me and my life, and now she’s 30, and I feel like I’m going to have to learn some of her quirky faces again. But I’m excited!”

According to Entertainment Tonight, “In the new Lizzie McGuire series from original show creator Terri Minsky, Lizzie is a millennial navigating life in New York City. She is on the cusp of her 30th birthday, working her dream job as the apprentice to a top designer and dating her ideal guy. Most importantly, she will still have 13-year-old Lizzie blabbering around in her head.”

Hilary continues, “I’ve been a big part of the process with Terri Minsky and the creative process of where [Lizzie’s] been and where she’s going and, really, it’s a dream come true.  We have so many similarities, but our lives are very different. She’s been living in New York and I’m not sure how long she’s going to stay there, but that’s going to all be a part [of the show],” she hinted.

When asked if on-screen BFFs  Mirando and Gordo will make a return, Hilary teased, “The chances are high! I can’t tell you too much, but I think that people are going to be very surprised and excited.”  However, Hilary does face one challenge – reprising her role as Lizzie and also being a mom, “It’s going to be challenging. Being a mom is my No. 1 role in life, so I’m a little worried, but we’re going to make it all happen.  I think that Lizzie is going to shoot here [L.A.] and then I’m going to go to New York [to] shoot a season of Younger, and I just keep juggling it.”  Hilary is mom to Luca (7-years old) and Banks (10-months).
