Camila Cabello is making her way to the big screen!

It was announced by the film’s director, Kay Cannon that Camila Cabello will take on the role of Cinderella in the upcoming remake.  According to Billboard, “The idea for the new take on Cinderella grew from an original idea from James Corden, the late-night talk show host who has made major musical inroads thanks to his popular “Carpool Karaoke” segments.  Corden is also producing the feature project with Leo Pearlman, his partner at Fulwell 73, the production banner that has found success with documentaries such as The Class of ’92, the BAFTA-nominated Bros: After the Screaming Stops and Karaoke. Valence Media is an investor in Fulwell 73, and is also the parent company of The Hollywood Reporter.”

As far as the film’s director, Kay is known as the writer for the popular Pitch Perfect movies and her work on 30 Rock.  Kay made her director debut with the Blockbuster movie Blockers, which starred Jon Cena and Kathryn Newton.  And in case you were wondering – this is NOT a rumour! Kay confirmed herself on Twitter.

In the meantime, Camila has been working on her second studio album.  Camila told Entertainment Tonight, “I look at making music like when there’s a fruit bowl, and people are painting it, trying to draw it exactly like it looks.  To me, music is kind of the same way. It’s like, you have a memory and your job is to paint that memory, but onto music.  Lately, a common message in the music I’m writing now is kind of emotional intensity.  And just not being afraid to really be passionate about life, about someone. I think probably the main common message in my music is it’s important to be vulnerable and to just be as me as possible in my music.”
