Ed’s 2017 mega-hit ‘Shape Of You’ has officially reached Diamond Status! The record broke major records, including the record for the most time spent within the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100s Chart (12 weeks at number one and 33 weeks in the top 10).  According to PEOPLE, “Sheeran’s latest feature scored him a spot in history as the fourth artist to receive multiple Diamond certified songs since the status was implemented 20 years ago.  His song ‘Thinking Out Loud,’ a single off of his 2014 album x, previously went Diamond in 2017.”  ‘Shape Of You’ is off of Ed’s ‘Divide’ album, which went 4x platinum and debuted at number one.

Ed Sheeran even took the time to thank everyone in an Instagram post writing, “My song Shape Of You” is now diamond in the US! Thanks to everyone who’s downloaded or streamed it.”

Once Ed ended his x tour in December of 2015, he made the decision to take a break from music.  He also posted this note on Instagram for all of his fans:

“Hello all.  I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while, I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.  To my family and friends, if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit, to my fans, the third album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far.  See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing.”

Ed kept his promise and delivered one amazing album called ‘Divide.’  He told Apple Music, “I ended the tour and I [realized] I hadn’t ever really lived a life.  It’s quite weird being a touring ‘celebrity.’  People assume you’re living the best f*****g life in the world, but you don’t really get to live any life because you work the whole time.”

And speaking of work, Ed has been working on a super-secretive project and well, the cat’s out of the bag now! Ed has officially launched his own line of signature acoustic guitars, a collaboration with Irish guitar maker, Lowden.  In a press release, Ed explained, “There are fewer guitar bands and fewer artists using guitars now, and not as many kids picking up guitars.  That is something I would like to change by getting these great quality guitars, made in Ireland, into kids’ hands and encouraging them to learn and progress.”

In an Instagram post Ed writes, “I grew up wanting to play Lowden guitars, but they were so rare and so expensive I didn’t end up getting one til I was given one by my friend Gary from Snow Patrol in 2012.  I’m so honoured to launch our new guitar brand, Sheeran guitars by Lowden.”  Although the guitar prices have yet to be released, the Lowden guitar usually retails anywhere between $4,390 to $5,800, of course depending on the wood.

I grew up wanting to play Lowden guitars, but they were so rare and so expensive I didn’t end up getting one til I was given one by my friend Gary from Snow Patrol in 2012. Through Gary I met George Lowden and he started making my tour guitars for me, which were amazing both on stage and in the studio. We have been talking for years about trying to make a guitar that was as amazing as a Lowden but in a price point that was the same as the regular guitar companies, and also be made in Ireland. We never thought it was possible, but George and his team managed it. I’m so honoured to launch our new guitar brand, Sheeran guitars by Lowden. These are without a doubt the best guitars at their price point, and just a joy to play. I hope you love them as much as me. Link is in my bio x
