Katy Perry is this year’s highest paid female musician, racking in an estimated $83 million from June of 2017 to June of 2018!  Although Katy beat out other amazing female artists such as Beyonce (who topped the same chart last year), Lady Gaga and Rihanna, if Taylor Swift “had her Reputation tour sales fall within the scoring period,” she would’ve fallen into first place, according to Forbes.

Hours following the publication of Forbes’ list, Taylor announced via Instagram that she signed a brand new record deal, a deal with Universal Music Group and could earn anywhere up to $200 million, which is huge!  As of next year, there’s a strong possibility Taylor might come out on top.

Shortly after we announced the Forbes top-earning women in music earlier this week, where @taylorswift landed the No. 2 spot, the pop star one-upped herself and announced a new record deal with Universal Music Group’s Republic Records. Though terms were not officially released, the pact could be worth anywhere from $100 million in guarantees to perhaps $200 million, Forbes has learned from multiple sources who've asked to remain anonymous. According to the singer, the most important point of all in her deciding to sign with UMG was the label agreeing to distribute a cut of proceeds from any sale of its Spotify shares to artists, non-recoupable–meaning that they'd be paid even if they hadn't earned back their latest advance.

Vanity Fair notes, “Tour sales are a huge determining factor in the annual Forbes list, which Beyoncé topped last year on the power of her “Formation” tour (she came in third this year, and most of her “On the Run II” tour money won’t count until next year’s list). Adele, No. 2 on last year’s list, is nowhere to be found this time, having wrapped her tour in June of 2017. Meanwhile, Perry, despite some weak tour sales, leapt from No. 9 last year to the top spot on the power of the Witness tour, plus a lucrative American Idol-hosting gig earning her a rumoured $25 million.”

CONGRATS Katy!
