Hundreds of fans and family members gathered together this weekend to pay tribute to the DJ at a special memorial service which was held at Hedvig Eleonora Church in Stockholm.

Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii passed away April 20 and on May 1, TMZ reported, “The cause of death was a suicide due to self-inflicted injuries with a broken wine bottle, which led to blood loss.”  Avicii was laid to rest on June 8 at Skogskyrkogarden (better known as ‘The Woodland’) cemetery in Stockholm.

According to Billboard, “His father, Klas Bergling, spoke at the ceremony, and choral versions of Avicii songs, including ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘Without You’ were performed.  Fans gathered outside the venue as well, lining the streets.”  A source tells E! News, “The entire service was very moving.  It was a great tribute to Avicii.”

Following the death of Avicii, the Bergling family issued a statement, “Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions.  An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.  When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music.  He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness.  He could not go on any longer.  He wanted to find peace.  Tim was not mad for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.”

RIP Avicii!!
