We have bad news: Idris Elba is officially off the market.

Let’s make matters even worse. Elba’s fiancée, actor and former Miss Vancouver Sabrina Dhowre, is also a freakin’ Canadian, which technically means it could’ve been you. Let that sink in.

Gratefully, the vid of Elba proposing to Dhowre is super sweet, which could make this whole situation a little easier.

Elba popped the question at a screening of his latest film Yardie—which he directed—on Feb. 10, and the pair was wearing matching Vans, so these two are CLEARLY a match made in heaven (that’s the appropriate measure of true love, right? Matching trendy sneaks?).

The couple met when Elba was in Canada filming The Mountain Between Us, which premiered at TIFF in September. The duo also made their first public appearance together at TIFF, for the premiere of Molly’s Game. “[My date] definitely got noticed because I try to keep my personal life different,” Elba told People! about the couple’s debut.

“Falling in love while making a movie about falling in love is pretty special.” UGH! So sweet.
