Ed Sheeran recently visited The Ellen Show where he performed his latest single Perfect and chatted with Ellen during Ellen’s Show Me More Show, where they each shared their thoughts on the newly released Grammy nominations.

In the clip (shown above) Ellen congratulates Ed on his two Grammy nominations (he’s nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album for ÷ (Divide)).  Ellen also expressed how “outraged” she was that Ed was not nominated for Album of the Year, which let’s face it … he totally deserves it!

Ed explains, “My outlook on it is some years you have your year and some years you don’t have your year. Maybe this year isn’t my year.”

Of course, Ellen was not buying it.  Ellen tells Ed, “That song [‘Shape Of You’] did not leave my head, I mean, ever.”

Ed responded, “But that’s the point.  That’s where you win. That’s where the validation comes from. You actually see people enjoying the songs. I’d rather have a lifetime of people coming up to me and saying… ‘This song is my wedding song,’ or ‘this song was my first kiss.'”

What’s Ed’s favourite song off of his album? Perfect!  He says, “It was one of the fastest songs that I’d written. It just kind of came out. It’s the first song I wrote for the album and I’m not really sick of it. I still listen to it.”
