It’s official, Selena Gomez will be honoured at the annual Women in Music dinner and awards gala, which will take place on November 30 in Los Angeles… she is Billboard’s 2017 Woman of the Year.

Selena, who is already an award-winning actress, singer and producer will join the other the previous Woman of the Year honorees including Taylor Swift, Pink, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Fergie and last year’s winner, Madonna.

John Amato, who is the president of The Hollywood Reporter – Billboard Media Group says, “Not only is Selena soaring on the charts, but she continuously inspires young women everywhere to be authentic, give back and to not be afraid to use their voice.  She is never afraid to speak her mind and has used her platform to advocate for the needs of others. We are thrilled to be able to honor her as our Woman of the Year.”

In 2015 and 2016, she had three top 10 singles including, ‘Same Old Love’, ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ with Charlie Puth and ‘Hands to Myself’.  This year, she topped the charts with ‘Bad Liar’, ‘Fetish’ featuring Gucci Mane, ‘It Ain’t Me’ with Kygo and five of her albums all reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200’s chart including Revival in 2015 and Stars Dance in 2013.

Along with music, Selena is also an executive producer on the hit Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why, she also launched partnerships with Puma and Coach and worked with various charities, from the Step Up Foundation to World Kindness Day and she helped raise over $500, 000 for the Lupus Research Alliance.  Selena has also been an active ambassador for UNICEF since 2009.

According to Billboard, “Women in Music also recognizes the most powerful female executives in the industry. Additional Women in Music honorees will be unveiled in due course.”

Both the music event and the red-carpet pre-show will be broadcasting LIVE on Twitter from 9PM-midnight on November 30.
