When the Prince of Pickering brings his World Tour home, Toronto welcomes him back with open arms!

Shawn brought along his good friend, Charlie Puth to open up the show, and his fingers danced across his keyboard while he performed all of our favourites including ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’, ‘One Call Away’, ‘See You Again’, and his new single, ‘Attention’.

Not to stray from his musical genius, but can we take a minute to admire how adorable he looked in his over-sized plaid shirt, baggy black shorts and tube socks? Let’s just say Superman has nothing on Charlie’s boyish charms…and we should definitely talk more!

 

 

Towards 8:30pm, our hometown hero Shawn Mendes made his entrance on stage and the entire ACC, including Damnit Maurie and the KiSS 92.5 private suite listeners, screamed in amazement as their dreams became reality.

Shawn kicked off his set with his current single, ‘There’s Nothing Holding Me Back’, and instantly captivated the #MendesArmy with his talents.

In a lovestruck daze, fans screamed, cried and sang along as he cruised though tracks off of his Illuminate album, and treated us to classics from Handwritten like ‘Stitches’.

Part way through the show Shawn walked through the the masses of screaming fans to a 2nd stage in the centre floor and blew our minds with his cover of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Castle on the Hill’.

Then nostalgia kicked in as Shawn took us back to 2014 with ‘Life of the Party’, his first single featured on KiSS 92.5.

#FunFact Shawn was visiting the KiSS 92.5 studios the first time he heard the song played over the radio!

He continued his set with more hits from Illuminate, including ‘Three Empty Words’, ‘Patience’, ‘Roses’, ‘No Promises’, ‘Understand’ and ‘Don’t Be a Fool’.

 

 

Then, the voices of thousands of passionate fans filled the air as we all belted out ‘Mercy’ in unison, and “danced” like we were in Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ video creating an unforgettable vibe for everyone that was in the moment with us.

 

 

Despite our wishes that the night would go on forever, Shawn’s performance came to an end with ‘Treat You Better’, and we all swayed slowly back and forth, clinging on to every word, trying to make them last.

 

His adorable nose scrunch, admiration for his fans and pure talent have turned this humble cutie from Pickering into a worldwide superstar, and we couldn’t be more proud of him.  Thank you Shawn Mendes for an incredible night, we look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
