Joey “Jaws” Chestnut defended his title at the annual July Fourth hot dog eating contest at Nathan’s Famous in New York on Tuesday.

Joey Chestnut won his record 10th–and second consecutive–men’s title in the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest by consuming an event-record and personal-best 72 dogs and buns in 10 minutes. We’ve all enjoyed a good hotdog at a Jays game or in the back yard, so how hard can this be? Damnit Maurie, no stranger to trying to break eating world records on The Roz & Mocha took this as his next challenge! Because USA USA USA!!

The rule is, you have to eat the full hot dog with the bun!

“They make it look so easy, I’m sure I can do this!” He declared. Armed with 10 dogs and buns along with a bottle of ketchup he was ready to take the world by storm with his record breaking skills.

Once Maurie got started he realized how hard it was to get one wiener down! “There’s to much meat for more meat!” he said with a mouth full of tubular goodness.

How did you feel after downing some dogs?

oh man, I got the meat sweats within seconds! Plus, I started to feel so tired so fast!! How on earth did he eat 72, I can’t even do 3! The worst part for me was the buns, because the bread turned into what felt like concrete in my tummy.

Maurie

What would you do differently next time?

I think I need to not eat the night before! Plus, maybe I should dip the wieners in water first? That’s what the pros do! Because when you dunk it in water you can mush it into a ball and eat that faster.
