After months of speculation, Camila Cabello has finally announced that she will be releasing her debut solo album, The Hurting, the Healing, the Loving.

She also revealed that the album’s first single will drop this Friday (May 19th).

In a heartfelt letter she posted to her Twitter page, Camila says, “‘the hurting the healing the loving’ is the story of my journey from darkness into light, from a time when i was lost to a time when i found myself again.”

She spoke openly about the meaning behind The Hurting, the Healing, the Loving saying,

“The story behind the album starts with the second song that you’ll hear called ‘I have questions’ which I started writing in a hotel bathroom on tour a little over a year ago… I was completely broken during that time, i was in the kind of pain that’s uncomfortable to talk about, and it was the kind of chapter you never want to read out loud…. i couldn’t write another song for 6 months because writing meant i had to feel everything, and i wasn’t ready to do that yet.”

It would appear as though Camila will open up about her time with Fifth Harmony and what led to her deciding to leave the group; Camila announced that she was leaving the group back in December.

Back in February, Camila spoke to Billboard about leaving the group. She said, “The easiest route would be to shut my mouth, sing the songs, wear the clothes and keep going, you know? I mean, [we were] at the peak of our career. It’s definitely not the safe option…I have it in my DNA. The way my mom raised me, it has always been: Don’t settle. Jump and hope you grow wings on the way down.”

Camila took issue with singing other people’s words and felt that it just didn’t feel right, “I was always super open [that] I couldn’t just sing other people’s words and be totally happy with that. You have to follow and honor that inner voice. I always encouraged the girls to do the same.”

She admitted that that caused a lot of tension within the group, I think that in a group there is always going to be tension, whether it’s because of this thing or [another] thing. Obviously, I think that rocked the boat.”

Since leaving Fifth Harmony, Camila has kept busy, collaborating with Machine Gun Kelly, J.Balvin and Pitbull.

Look out for Camila’s debut solo album The Hurting, the Healing, the Loving later this year and the album’s first single which drops on Friday!
