Musically speaking it had been a while since we last heard from Katy Perry, but now the ‘I Kissed A Girl’ singer is back with a brand new single called, ‘Chained to the Rhythm’!

The song was written by Katy and Sia and was produced by Max Martin.

The upbeat, 80s vibe to the song will surely have you listening to it on repeat as Katy almost prophetically sings “Turn it up, it’s your favourite song/Dance, dance, dance to the distortion/Turn it up, keep it on repeat/Stumbling around like a wasted zombie…”

Katy sent fans into a frenzy this week when she debuted a new platinum blonde look while hyping a new single.

‘Chained to the Rhythm’ features Skip Marley, who is the grandson of Bob Marley; Katy promoted his single, ‘Lions’ on Instagram over the weekend.

On Wednesday, she created a global scavenger hunt for her fans to listen to the new single by placing disco balls in various cities such as New York, London and Paris; each disco ball allowed fans to hear ‘Chained to the Rhythm’.

Back in September, Katy hinted that she would be dropping new music this year after responding to a Twitter troll.

 

In October, she let her fans know that her new music was going to be FIRE!

 

We’ll get to hear ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ LIVE for the first time this Sunday as Katy Perry makes her return to the GRAMMY stage at 8pm on City.
