After securing her first ever number one Billboard Hot 100 single, ‘Cheap Thrills’ (with Sean Paul), singer/songwriter Sia is back with a brand new single and video for her song, ‘The Greatest’ which was co-written by her and Greg Kurstin.

The song features an 8 bar verse from rapper Kendrick Lamar, but he does not appear in the music video.

Sia teamed up once again with 13 year old dancer Maddie Ziegler; Ziegler appeared with actor Shia LaBeouf in Sia’s video for ‘Elastic Heart’ and most famously her hit single, ‘Chandelier’.

Already, there is speculation online about the video’s true meaning, but one fan theory appears to stand out amongst the rest.

A YouTuber commenter wrote, “I really think the video is inspired by the Orlando Pulse shooting. There’s 49 dancers. At the beginning, Maddie wipes the rainbow tears down her eyes. Then she looks tormented and starts to cry. She wakes up the dead bodies (the victims) and reminds them “don’t give up” and that they are “the greatest.” At the end, they’re all dancing together in the warehouse with the disco balls (Pulse) before falling down, like they’re dead. The wall behind them looks like there’s been bullets shot through them. “

What do you think of Sia’s new video and song, ‘The Greastest’?
