Justin Trudeau Kicks Some Butt in a Marvel Comic

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau guest starred in the Marvel comic Civil War II: Choosing Sides #5. It was written by Chip Zdarsky and artwork was done by Ramón Pérez.

A Canadian Superhero squad called Alpha Flight, calls in Trudeau for reinforcements. In this issue Trudeau enters the comics as a boxer, offering advice to the members of Alpha Flight. Trudeau even enters the boxing ring with Iron Man during his time in the comic.

Via the Toronto Star, writer Zdarsky said “I didn’t want this to just be like a walk-on … rescued by superheroes and he thanks them and that’s the end of the story, I think a lot of these real-life appearances in comics tend to go that way. I liked the idea of him actually engaging them in an ethical debate.”
