Today we learned that Tidal gained at least a two more subscribers. Kanye’s exclusive deal with Tidal to stream his new album, ‘The Life of Pablo’ has reportedly doubled Tidal’s user base.

Kanye’s new album is only available on Tidal and it may stay that way for a while. Last week Kanye boldly declared, amidst one of his rants, that it will never be for sale:

Jay-Z, who owns a large stock in Tidal, and the rest of the owners, must be popping some D’usse right now. This exclusive deal has more than doubled Tidal’s user base and TMZ is reporting that since the release of ‘The Life of Pablo’ Tidal went from 1 million subscribers to 2.5 million.

All this good for Tidal, has been bad for Kanye’s Billboard numbers. Tidal is not providing streaming numbers to Nelisen, who tracks streams and plays for the Billboard charts, making ‘The Life of Pablo’ ineligible. Tidal’s Vice President, Silvio Pietroluongo, said, “Streams from TIDAL for this title will not contribute to Billboard’s chart rankings at this time. Billboard has been informed that TIDAL is not currently reporting streams for tracks on Kanye’s album to Nielsen Music.”
