Online that is!

Last week, rumours surfaced of the longest running Canadian soap being cancelled! But there was some misunderstanding, because that didn’t mean that Degrassi’s doors were closing for good!

(phew!)

Producers revealed that the show will be moving to Netflix and the Family Channel, with 20 new episodes in early 2016!

The newest version of the franchise will be called Degrassi: Next Class. Co-creator and exec producer Linda Schuyler says,

“We are energized and excited to work with Family Channel as we tell stories for the new post-millennial teen cohort known as Generation Z, most of whom weren’t even born when Degrassi returned in 2001.”

Whatever it takes… Degrassi: Next Class coming to @netflix and @family_channel!

Producers say the online episodes will be available worldwide, so that those important stories can reach more teens in other countries, and they can discover the newest chapter of the show.

Degrassi has never shied away from facing a number of serious issues affecting so many teens and their families….

From deaths, suicide, battling cancer,

And teen pregnancies, just to name a few!

This franchise stretches back 35 years, first with The Kids of Degrassi Street, and the latest Degrassi: The Next Generation.

GO PANTHERS!!!
