Thanks to Camila Manzano for this one

BACON WRAPPED SAUSAGES

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 35 minutes

Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:

3/4 pound regular bacon

1 pound package small smoked sausages

2/3 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup maple syrup

1/4 teaspoon pepper

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Cut bacon slices in half. Fry bacon in large pan until some of the fat is rendered but the bacon is still pliable; do not let bacon get crisp.

Cool bacon 5 minutes on paper towels, then wrap each sausage with a piece of the precooked bacon. Roll each little bundle in brown sugar, fasten with a toothpick, and place on wire rack. Place rack in 13″ x 9″ baking pan lined with foil.

Drizzle maple syrup over the sausages and sprinkle with pepper. Bake 25-35 minutes until sausages are hot and bacon is crisp. Remove rack from pan and cool sausage bundles 4-5 minutes before serving. Serves 8

It’s important to use the wire rack because the drippings that come from the bacon and sugar burn easily. You want to keep the little sausages out of the drippings.

SuperBowl 25 was the scene of the first of four straight Super-Disappointments for the Buffalo Bills. The Bills were playing in the first of 4 straight SuperBowls, while the NY Giants were playing in their second in four years.

The game was a back and forth affair that saw the lead change 5 times including twice in the fourth quarter. With 2:16 remaining in the game, and New York leading 20-19, QB Jim Kelly drove the Bills to the 29 yard line of the Giants. This set up a game winning 47-yard field goal by Scott Norwood with 8 seconds left. The snap was made, the kick was up and Bills fans heard the words that still haunt them to this day. Wide right.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV5s1w4Q6FE

The Buffalo Bills and their fans may have lost the game, but we ALL lost a little piece of ourselves during the halftime show. Nothing can prepare you for the CHEESIEST halftime show ever.

[youtube -2G7VH6Lqx4 nolink]

Not all was bad that day though. Whitney Houston’s (lipsynched) rendition of the Star Spangled Banner was incredible.

This was the first SuperBowl after 9/11. Fear and sadness were still fresh. Emotions were still high. The world was trying to get back to some semblance of “normal”. The SuperBowl helped. I remember watching the game and realizing, sure, the world had changed … but this game symbolized that the rebuilding had begun.

The game featured the brash, young, inexperienced New England Patriots and the high scoring veteran St. Louis Rams. The Pats took a 14-3 lead to the locker room at halftime. It was looking like a one sided affair. But, Kurt Warner led the Rams down the field a few times and by the final few minutes of the 4th quarter the score was tied 17-17. Instead of letting the clock wind down and head to overtime, Tom Brady led the Pats to the 30 yard line of the Rams with 7 seconds remaining. It set up Adam Vinatieri’s game winning 48 yard field goal. Watch below

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX9r6n

The game was complimented with a halftime show equally as uplifting. U2 killed it with performances of Beautiful Day and Where The Streets Have No Name along with a 9/11 tribute as the backdrop. It was heartfelt, touching and one of the most memorable halftime shows in history.

This game was amazing. Kurt Warner and the Greatest Show on Turf taking on the upstart Tennessee Titans.

The Rams built a 16-0 lead only to see the Titans come back and tie the game with 2:12 left in the game. However, on the first play of the Rams’ ensuing drive, Kurt Warner threw a 73 yard touchdown pass to Isaac Bruce to take a 23-16 lead.

In the final few minutes the Titans would drive to the Rams 10 yard line. With 6 seconds left on the clock the Titans used their final timeout. The final play would see QB Steve McNair complete a short pass to wide receiver Kevin Dyson. Dyson would be stopped 1 yard short as time ran out. Amazing game!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4lcsyEIyEo

The halftime show, however, was horrible. With a pretty stellar lineup, it COULD have been great. Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias, Toni Braxton, and Phil Collins? COULD have been amazing. But it was awful. Brutal. Boring. Unrelatable. I can’t think of enough adjectives to describe how excruciating this halftime show was to watch. Ugh.
