Sony’s PlayStation Network has been the victim of the one of the largest-ever Internet data breaches, with the names, addresses and possibly credit card data of 77 million user accounts stolen. Other information that was taken included email addresses, birth dates, usernames, passwords, logins, security questions and more.

Although Sony learned about the massive security breach that took place between April 17th and 19th a week ago and shut down the network immediately, it didn’t make the information public until Tuesday (April 26th). It also hasn’t said how the data might have been compromised.

PlayStation video game console owners could use the PlayStation Network to buy and download games, as well as play games with others online.

Microsoft XBOX has also issued a warning to anyone who plays Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to be cautious of phishing scams.  Don’t open any messages from anyone you don’t know.

Both Microsoft and Sony say they’re working on resolving these issues.

If this rumour is true, I think this could possibly be the first real iPhone killer competitor.

Photos and supposed technical specifications indicate that Veta would be a hybrid game and telephone device with a sliding form factor and no optical media slot, similar to the PSP Go. Veta is rumoured to have the classic Playstation face buttons but no analogue sticks; analogue input would be via a multi-touch strip that would simulate a pair of thumb sticks. The rumoured device’s memory could be as much as 1 GB of RAM, a significant increase over that of the PSP and PSP Go.

If these specs are true it would mean the devide would be slightly more than half as powerful as the PS3. Wow.

We won’t have to wait long to see if the rumours are true. Speculation is the phone will be released early to mid 2011.
