Fans of Riverdale know the dark turn the series has taken compared to the comics. The world is filled with mystery, scandal and drama—and viewers can’t get enough of it! When asked if there will be just as much dark mystery as the first season, Marisol Nichols (who plays Hermione Lodge), told FLARE, “100 percent, absolutely. We left the last season with one of our main characters fighting for his life so there’s no way that’s going to be chopped off in the last episode, I can tell you that.”

And the drama isn’t over for fan-favourite Ethel, either! In an interview with FLARE, Shannon Purser revealed that the town of Riverdale is still shrouded in mystery. “All I can say is that the mystery didn’t end with us finding out who Jason’s killer is. So buckle up, because season 2 is going to be intense and will probably shock people a lot.”

In season one, Archie Andrews was as gullible as he was sweet and charmed audiences with his boyish good looks. Moving forward, actor KJ Apa promises fans will see a different side to his beloved character.

“There’s a switch that goes off, and I think it’s a different side of Archie we haven’t seen yet,” he said during a panel at Comic-Con.

Mark Consuelos is another new face joining the cast for season two.

The 46-year-old actor will play Hiram Lodge, who is described by producers as “a ruthless, handsome, and charismatic businessman.” Hiram heads back to Riverdale to rebuild his life after being released from prison for a financial crime. Only time will tell if his wife Hermione and daughter Veronica welcome him home with open arms.

Mädchen Amick, who plays Betty Cooper’s mother Alice, posted a photo on Instagram of the cast at the first table read. All the main characters from the show are accounted for, from Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge) to KJ Apa (Archie Andrews) to Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper) and Cole Sprouse (Jughead Jones) but Luke Perry is no where to be found.

The 50-year-old star’s absence from the photo has many fans worried that his character Fred Andrews doesn’t survive the gunshot he sustained in the final minutes of season one. Further proof of his demise could be found in the title of the first episode, “A Kiss Before Dying.”
