Our best advice for Justin Bieber is “Love Yourself.” The Canadian pop star has been keeping a low profile as of late, after a busy 2016 saw the 22-year-old jetting from country to country on his world tour, romancing a long list of young stars, like Sofia Richie, and dealing with his latest round of legal troubles. But now, following a lengthy and healthy hiatus, the singer has reemerged on Instagram and making headlines again for things other than his music.

The Stratford native hasn’t even able to ignore former love Selena Gomez‘s relationship with fellow Canadian The Weeknd, even going as far as mocking the “Starboy” singer in an Instagram video. Justin’s name has also been circulating in a new alleged assault investigation.

Despite all this drama, the singer is already having a big year. His tour is ramping up again, he’s up for a JUNO and Purpose received a nod for Album of the Year at last weekend’s GRAMMYs. So as we look ahead to the coming months, we’re hoping Justin concentrates on his purpose as a musician and takes his career to new heights. Here’s how the Biebs can made 2017 his best yet.

TAKE A BOW

Since he announced his Purpose World Tour during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Justin has taken his concert all over the world. He kicked things off in March 2016 in Seattle and hasn’t looked back. Unfortunately, some of his sold-out dates gained less-than-favourable attention when he walked off without finishing his set. Now he has the chance to redeem himself as he’s touring again, and will be making stops in Toronto this fall.

HAVE A HOMECOMING

Unfortunately, Justin won’t be able to attend this year’s JUNOs in Ottawa on Apr. 2 because he will be on tour in Brazil. Should he take home the prize for Fan Choice (he’s up against alongside Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, Drake and you guessed it, The Weeknd), it might be just the encouragement he needs to come back to Canada and reconnect with his family, friends and the fans that have been with him since day one.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION

Justin has dabbled in acting in the past and proved that he can pull off comedy and drama (remember CSI Miami?). Maybe it’s time for another turn as host of Saturday Night Live or like Rihanna, who will star in the next season of Bates Motel, Justin can sign up for a guest arc on a hit series.

LOOK BEYOND THE SPOTLIGHT

Fans know JB’s most significant relationship was with Selena. But he’s also been linked to Kendall Jenner, Hailey Baldwin and Kourtney Kardashian over the years. While dating when you’re world famous – and have more than 77 million Instagram followers – is never easy, we think it’s time for the singer to look outside of his circle of “It” girls for love. Our pick as matchmaker? Eugenie Bouchard! They’ve spent some time together in the past, are passionate about their careers and both know all the words to “O Canada” (just saying).

WRITE IT DOWN

If there’s one thing to be learned from pop music, it’s that heartbreak can lead to major hits. If he’s currently without a date, we say Justin should put down his phone and pick up his guitar. Laying off Instagram and letting feelings inspire new lyrics is a better way to go. We’d allow use of the phone again if it was being used to call up Ed Sheeran. Their last writing collaboration gave us Bieber’s acoustic kiss-off “Love Yourself.”
