Its an understatement to say that Tom Hiddleston struggled with his words during his acceptance speech Sunday at the Golden Globes. While picking up the award for best actor in a TV movie or limited series, Tommy tried to tell a story about South Sudan, but it didn’t go so well.

Today, feeling the pressure of the entirety of Twitter laughing at him, Tom issued an apology via his Facebook page. He wrote, ““I just wanted to say … I completely agree that my speech at the Golden Globes last night was inelegantly expressed. In truth, I was very nervous, and my words just came out wrong.”

I think we can forgive Tom for this. For dating Taylor Swift, not so much.
