The big story in Toronto right now is the possibility of the DVP and Gardiner becoming a toll hwys, and Damnit Maurie asked Toronto drivers what they want?

Politicians have just decided there will be NO tolls on the Gardiner or DVP — not yet anyway.

They’ve been talked about and debated vehemently for years here at city hall and any decision on them is moving as slowly as the Gardiner Expressway during rush hour.

Today the executive committee voted to send a report on tolling the DVP and Gardiner back to city staff for further study instead of sending it to council.

When it does eventually get there: expect to hear a vehement debate.

Councillors seem split on the idea that tolls are inevitable.

The staff report is due back mid 2016, that’s when we could see the debate over tolling on council floor.

Another motion to have the province pay for the cost of the DVP and Gardiner was voted down at executive committee today.
