Happy 1 year anniversary to Pixie!! “When I met Pixie/Shadow it was love at first sight. This tiny black bundle of joy came running over to me, licked my ears, and hugged me, and I knew I had to adopt. I brought her home, and she has been my partner in crime ever since. We go on adventures together every day – we’re both little explorers, and we have so much fun together. She is the sweetest little girl – if we’re not playing, all she wants to do is cuddle (or have her belly rubbed!). She always wants to get as close as she possibly can to me, and without fail, every night, she falls asleep on top of me. Mornings consist of routine cuddles and ear nibbles (she is the best alarm clock!). She is the friendliest dog, wants to say hello to every person and every dog that she sees. She gets a ton of attention wherever we go (and loves it), especially from kids, with whom she is so patient and gentle. She is the most popular dog at the dog park – with humans and dogs. And though she will give love to anyone, she is so, SO loyal to me. She’s very protective of me (she fancies herself the toughest guard dog), and she is never happier than when I walk through my front door. She always greets me with a hug, ear licks, and a huge smile! Adopting Shadow was the best decision I’ve ever made. She’s been really therapeutic for me. She’s taught me how to open my heart up to the idea of love, and how to give it unconditionally. She reminds me every day to laugh, play, smile, and generally to not take life too seriously. She’s so silly, it’s impossible to be in a bad mood with her around! She amazes me with her grace and her emotional intuition – she always knows when someone needs cheering up, and will not stop trying until she has them smiling and laughing, whether it’s through cuddles or playing. She’s so well behaved, and so intelligent. She’s wicked fast, and has yet to meet a dog that can out-run her. This makes me proud. Everything she does makes me proud. I’m so happy that I chose to adopt, and I’m so grateful to the Save Our Scruff team for rescuing her and bringing her into my life. This is definitely a scruff success!”

WOODY arrived on our Texas transport and without needing any formal introduction, he was scooped up almost immediately! Donna his foster fell madly in love and they have been enjoying each others company ever since! We are so happy that we could help these two find one another!

SINBAD//BEAR has been adopted and is in his furever home! “Bear is doing really well and adjusting so great. While he’s definitely the gentle giant that he was originally thought to be, more and more he’s showing his big and wonderful personality. He is so intelligent and has an incredibly affectionate and goofy side. One of his favourite things right now is to drink water out of the bath tub tap. It’s so funny and obviously, very adorable. He’s just the most loveable guy around and I am so so lucky to have him in my life!” Congrats to you both!

Remember KATO?! After long stressful months of trying to find him a suitable foster to address his needs — KATO was almost without hope. With little resources, it was proposed many times to euthanize rather than try and work harder. SOS chose to try and work harder. With probably the most outreach we’ve ever searched for before — at last KATO found his match. Adopter @trevor_hansen10 heard about this guy and came to meet him. It was the right fit and KATO and SOS has never looked back. He is now a full time water boy! We love and miss this guy and are sooooo happy that he got a second chance!! We cannot reiterate enough: SAVE A LIFE, RESCUE A DOG!

NOW, here are some pups who are still looking for their furever home!!!

JENNY is settled in and ready to find a home. She was transported from Texas to Toronto a few weeks ago. She was very shy initially but has made a lot of progress and is showing her personality well. Turns out she is very playful and very sweet in nature. She is still a bit nervous outside — but the sights of Toronto are very different from what she is used to. Cars, loud noises and all the comosion. Her fosters are helping her adjust and they are very impressed already! She is a great companion dog as she loves to be with you. In the home she has low-medium energy and would like a family that suits her mellow behaviour. She is a mix breed, 2 years old and about 30lbs. She’s looking for someone to be loyal to her, so she can open up and finally feel settled.

TUNA had a nice accidental swim in the pool today. You can’t keep this fish out of water. She’s a 2 year old husky, collie, corgi mix! She’s about 30-35lbs of complete fluff! SO FLUFFY! She’s on the search for her furever home! She is high energy and benefits from a long workout. She loves to play but needs help learning to socialize. She’s good in the home once settled and will sit wherever you are and hope for some attention. She doesn’t mind cats!

HAPPY is a 7 month old terrier mix from Texas! He’s on the search for his furever home! He loves to play and is very excited about life. He’s dog, cat and kid social! He needs basic training and someone who will continue to work on his separation anxiety. He loves to cuddle and be involved in whatever you’re doing! Active? Yes. Outdoors? Yes. Netflix enthusiast? HECK YES.

MOO sniffed her way through the walk today! She’s also up for adoption!!

BRUCE is doing awesome in foster! He is in constant need for some love — approaching anyone and everyone to be pet, cuddled and played with. He’ll sit for hours with his toys — loving fetch as well when his humans available. He doesn’t bark or whine when he’s left alone which is great for apartment people! He is actually really well behaved when left alone, just needing a toy or two to past the time. He doesn’t get into any mischief and just happily awaits your arrival! He follows basic commands but gets distracted when on walks and for example has a harder time ‘sitting’ with the chaos that is the Toronto streets. He is very curious and wants to meet every dog, human and lamp post on the streets. He’s a good walker and can easily improve his curious ways with some guidance. He growls during introductions of other dogs, thinking he wants to be the alpha, but doesn’t do this aggressively — just to TRY to show dominance. He’s actually quite submissive (shh.. he’d be embarrassed).

LAFFY & TAFFY are a brother/sister duo looking to find a furever home together! They are Terrier mixes at the young age of 2!! They were part of our Texas transport — being removed from a shelter euthanasia list and brought to Toronto in hopes of finding a family! They are quirky little guys who are happy just being together! They have medium energy as they either love to run or play but also like downtime where they can just nap it out. They are dog social, but are not a fan of cats or kids. They initially bark at dogs as they are fearful. They would love to be in a home as the only pets (okay, maybe a fish or two is fine). Please open up your heart to this bonded duo or spread the word to someone who will!

BENEFITS OF BONDED:
1. Double the fun – Dog party, in your house, er’day
2. “Welcome home dance” x2 – who doesn’t love walking into your house to the most excited dog ever — now you have two of them
3. Tired of having no friends? Well, you just added two to your house
4. No excuses to give your friends as to why you want to stay home and watch Netflix? “Well I just got two dogs and it’s a lot of work so I think I need to stay home” while realistically getting to lounge around with your two pals
5. You get to keep a brother and sister together – K maybe it’s to their benefit but that feels good, no?
6. You get to have two dogs. Enough said.
