A big congratulations is in order for our hometown boy Drake! He worked hard for this achievement too!

Drake tweeted:

Drizzy has been studying with Kim Janzen, a teacher at Vaughan Road Academy, since the end of his tour earlier this year.

She worked closely with the rapper as he completed the coursework and credits necessary to earn a GED.

“I’m actually spending my summer graduating high school,” he told NOW back in August. “That’s my main focus. I only have one credit left, and I’m really excited about that.”

Drake dropped out of high school to join the cast of Degrassi: The Next Generation and stayed with the show for seven seasons.

Family struggles are the reasons he dropped out and took the gig on Degrassi.

“My mother was very sick. We were poor, like broke. The only money I had coming in was off of Canadian TV, which isn’t that much money when you break it down.”

“A season of Canadian TV is under a teacher’s salary. Still, every little bit helped.”
