A North Carolina pastor appeared to use a recent sermon to encourage parents in his flock to hit the gay out of their kids if they thought the young ones were displaying homosexual tendencies.
In case you haven’t heard the sermon in question (below), which took place last Sunday at Berean Baptist Church in Fayetteville…
Pastor Sean Harris whipped himself into an anti-gay frenzy … claiming parents should “crack” their sons’ “limp” wrists if they act gay … and then “punch” them.
Portions of the sermon posted to the Internet have since gone viral.
Pastor Sean Harris of the Barean Baptist Church in Fayetteville, N.C. retracted the statements of violence but continued to defend his comments about the “importance of gender distinctions that God created,” as well his condemnation of homosexuality, citing the Bible. But he was not able to explain other passages in the Bible, such as those condoning slavery, saying he didn’t realize the interview would “slant and redirect the conversation.”
Harris has walked back his words a bit. ”If I had to say it again, I would say it differently, no doubt, Those weren’t planned words, but what I do stand by is that the word of God makes it clear that effeminate behavior is ungodly. I’m not going to compromise on that.”
Pastor Sean Harris did an exclusive interview with Roz & Mocha on KiSS 92.5, have a listen to this…

I listened to parts of the interview with Pastor Sean Harris…I am a christen who loves my GOD, and I do read the scriptures in the bible, But …
God loves all his children, whether they are black, white, brown, disabled, learning difficulties ..or even GAY!
Studies have shown that being gay is not a learned behaviour, biting your nails is a learned behaviour. I agree totally how the show made that point and was calm to the Pastor. The Pastor saying everyone has choices, I agree and we make choices everyday in our daily routines. I am not going to make the choice to be gay so I can be ridiculed everyday, and abused or have to live in fear, or shame…that is not god’s plan for us!
Thank you for bringing this to the attention of others.

Pamela you are a stupid in your thoughts… i feel sorry for you… no one chooses to be gay or straight.. you are being brainwashed by fascists using the bible to enslave you… The so called Christians like you… want to deny that gay people are born that way.. so they make up all this CHOICE bullshit… Look in the mirror and do us all a favor.. never speak again…

Steve – read Pamela’s note again. She’s on your side! Being gay is NOT a learned behaviour. She’s agreeing with Roz that it’s NOT a choice. So let’s make sure we’ve read carefully before taking someone’s head off.

I can’t agree more… this guy is sick. People can make their own life choices.

Listening to the pastor, and other people like him, makes me feel sick to my stomach. I too find it hard to believe that these people actually exist, and I am SOOOO glad that I live here in Canada, and not in the souther US where this kind of attitude is so common. As a gay man who knows it isn’t a choice it’s still hurtful to hear that kind of message. As a child or a teen to hear it would be devastating! And the odds are pretty good that there were a handful of gay (closeted) kids sitting there that Sunday morning listening to someone of influence raging about how imoral and wrong THEY are.
Great job for handling this the way you did. I’m a fan.
