You cannot just tell the rightful owners of the name ‘One Direction’, that just because another band is more popular, the laws do not apply to the more popular band. That is not how it works… 1D UK should have looked into the copyright details before choosing a name. I agree it would not be a good idea for 1D UK to change their name now, but they should be mature enough to settle this issue without using their popularity to ignore the law. It is an unfortunate problem for both bands,, please stop trashing 1D USA. They may not be popular or as ‘hot’, but they do not deserve this. They simply want to keep their name, what is the harm in that?
Just because 1D UK has more fans (well… A bigger cult-like following of young girls) does not make them any better or worse than 1D US.
1D US is trying to be civil about this, they would like you to extend them the same courtesy, instead of hating a band that you have never heard. Shouldn’t that be what matters in music? What sounds better, not the popularity and hotness of the singer? Apparently not.

I don’t like One Direction UK… Cannot find 1D US…

One direction had their name TRADEMARKED before the existence of the UK one direction. Therefore uk one direction has to change their name. Simple logics, but I can see how groups of 12 year old girls fail to comprehend such a mundane task as the average intelligence of a one directioner fan is that of the other sheep in the herd. Btw in what direction to five gays walk? ONE DIRECTION?

Okay i’m just reading this and imma tell you what ive never heard of a US band named one direction.I only know the One Direction that is the UK/Ireland boy band and they cant just change there name!That’s how we know and love them.Plus why cant the US one direction change their name!Their not famous or known yet so no big deal but if the UK One Direction changes their name then everything is going to be so confusing and messed up like for instance there CD’s,Shirts, Jewelry

this is the FIRST sensible answer on here however i do think the us one direction should’ve been smarter and just milked off of uk one directions success as they would probably come up on all their videos and searches anyway..
