Fans panned Lindsay Lohan’s “comeback” gig hosting Saturday Night Live this past weekend. While starlet was a good sport, poking fun at her personal problems and troubles with the law, fans blasted the 25-year-old on Twitter for her reliance on cue cards and unexceptional comedic chops. Videos + reaction after the jump.
Although it was rumored Lindsay would be signing her opening monologue, the bit instead featured members of the cast slyly confronting Lindsay with their doubts about her reliability. The monologue started:
“I’m Lindsay Lohan and I’m hosting Saturday Night Live. I know, right? I feel lucky and grateful to be here tonight and that’s why I really want to thank all of my friends at SNL who trusted me enough to have me back. You know, this studio feels like a home to me. (Alarm) Wait, the alarm goes off if I leave the stage? I thought it was only if I left the studio?”
Jimmy Fallon made a guest appearance during the opener, pointing out that Jon Hamm was in the audience standing by to host in case she screwed up. Kristen Wiig, meanwhile, frisked Lindsay for weapons and/or stolen goods — getting in a joke about Lohan’s sexuality:
“(Kristen) Hey Lindsay you’re doing a great job of hosting.
(Lindsay) Thank you, you know I do get the feeling that everybody thinks I’m gonna screw something up.
(Kristen) No no, hey, look at me. Everybody here believes in you, everyone, we wouldn’t have you back otherwise.
(Lindsay) Thanks Kristen. Kristen, are you searching me?
(Kristen) No, no I’m a lesbian now.
(Lindsay) Been there, done that.”
One of the most popular sketches of the night was a pre-taped bit called the “Real Housewives of Disney,” featuring Lohan and the female cast members as popular Disney stars (Lindsay was Rapunzel) cattily fighting like the women on Bravo. Critics were especially fond of Wiig’s Cinderella.

Lohan again mocked herself in a “Scared Straight” sketch in which she and Keenan Thompson played inmates brought in to frighten young criminals:
“(Keenan) Yeah alright now listen up. My name is Lorenzo Macintosh.
(Lindsay) And I’m Lindsay Lohan.
(Keenan) But you can call us Sylvester and Tweety Bird cause I fight like Stallone.
(Lindsay) And I’m big on Twitter.”

It was during that sketch that Lindsay’s reliance on the cue cards became especially noticeable.
EW.com subsequently asked readers if Lohan was the worst host of the season, Time called the performance a “less-than stellar” comeback, while Newsday said she was “just THERE for the most part.”
Tweet of the weekend goes to RT @DrunkEnough:
“This may be the first time Lindsay Lohan had trouble doing lines.”
